“Culture is the way of life of a group of people who share similar customs and beliefs.” (Jacobs & LeVasseur, 2005)
One can view culture as made up of “elements” that combine to form a unique culture. These elements include the following: religion, language, homes (rural and urban), trade, food and clothing.
Looking at “cultural elements” of particular countries:
  • Morocco:
    • Spoken languages: Arabic, Tamazight, Spanish, French
    • Ethnic groups: Berbers and Arabs
    • Currency: Moroccan dirham
    • Religions: Islam, Christianity, Judaism
  • Algeria:
    • Spoken languages: Arabic, French, Tamazight, Kabyle, Shawia, Tamashek
    • Ethnic groups Berbers and Arabs
    • Currency: Algerian dinar
    • Religions: Islam, Christianity, Judaism
